Join us on Wednesday, July 25th, in celebration of America, a really great place to live and eat! We are excited to welcome Gabrielle Langholtz, author of America: The Cookbook, to the Roadhouse for an evening dedicated to the best food traditions America has to offer.

We are honored to feature a book that showcases the diversity of our beloved country—and also includes an essay written by Ari Weinzweig! Ari’s contributions about really wild, wild rice and really good cream cheese are just a couple of glimpses into the culinary heritage captured in this beautiful book. From cover to shining cover, Gabrielle’s masterpiece holds 800 recipes that include regional classics as well as the food of refugees and immigrants.

With pulled pork pâté (North Carolina), country ham (Kentucky) and Alaskan salmon (Alaska)

With American Spoon pepper jelly

Starter (Served at Table):

American Cheese Board
Assorted American artisan cheese with pickled vegetables from the Brinery in Ann Arbor

Buffet:

Succotash (West Virginia)
With corn, lima beans, and cherry tomatoes.

Really Wild Wild Rice (Minnesota)
Hand harvested, with roasted carrots, dried cherries, fresh mint, and pecans.

Seven Layer Salad (Utah)
With lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, green peas, and onion.

Calabacitas (Arizona)
A casserole with yellow squash, fire-roasted New Mexico green chilies, and onion. Topped with melted Ig Vella old-fashioned Monterey Jack cheese, toasted breadcrumbs, and fresh cilantro.

Basque Lamb (Nevada)
Boneless leg of lamb marinated in white wine, Dijon mustard, garlic and rosemary. Grilled over oak.

Nashville Hot Chicken (Tennessee)
Battered free-range chicken, marinated and dipped in a spiced oil of cayenne, garlic, paprika and herbs. Deep-fried and served atop a slice of Bakehouse white bread with pickles.

Korean Pancake (California)
With chopped kimchi, spring onions, chive, and cilantro.

Dessert:

Buttermilk Pie (South Carolina)
With housemade pie crust.
