Join us for a date night tasting of all things your significant other LOVES! Relaxation, wine, AND, of course, cheese! A classic take on our wine and cheese tasting with a little less education and more quality time together. We’ll try a variety of wines from our favorite domestic vintners (wine makers) paired with some of our favorite artisan cheeses. Bread and additional accompaniments from our Cream Top Shop will be provided.

Brownies are easy even without a box mix, but you really can taste the difference when you make them with great ingredients. We’ll make four different varieties including our very own magic brownie (called one of the top 20 recipes of all time by Midwest Living Magazine), a fudgy brownie, buenos aires brownies with dulce de leche caramel and pecan blondies. After tasting all of these brownies you’ll leave feeling magical.

One of our most popular classes! Your family and house guests won't soon forget waking up to the aroma of butter, cinnamon, and muscovado brown sugar permeating the house from the fresh baked sweet rolls. Join us and find out how it's done. Learn the basic techniques of creating a sweet dough including mixing, kneading and rolling, hand-shaping your rolls, and properly proofing them. We'll also demonstrate how to make pecan sticky buns, a staff favorite. Wait until you taste these warm from the oven in class!

Learn to make just a few of our favorite house made soups at the Bakehouse. Stir up some flavor with Gabor’s Butter Bean and Ham with Hungarian paprika and 5 O’clock Cheddar Ale, We’ll also demonstrate how to make the perfect matzoh ball when we cook up Tibor’s matzoh ball soup with goose broth, the traditional Hungarian version. You'll learn valuable cooking skills that are the building blocks of making great soups. These recipes are sure to be added to the family's mealtime most requested list.

Ah, the pizza pie! It's a cornerstone of the American diet, and yet so few folks actually make pizza at home! We're here to show you how easy and fun it can be to make New York-style and Chicago-style pizza recipes. We'll fire up our wood-fired oven to BAKE! them and give you plenty of pizza samples in class. We will also demonstrate Pizza Bianca, a flavorful Italian bread that is a great accompaniment to any dinner. The next time you reach for the phone to order pizza delivery, you'll remember it's fun and a lot more flavorful to make it yourself.

Every baker should know how to make a pie crust. You never stood on a chair to help Grandma bake a pie? You don’t get many second chances in life but here’s your opportunity to learn how she did it.

In this class we’ll deliver the techniques of how to make a pie crust the Zingerman's way- creating a flaky crust with butter, and another crust using lard and butter (no shortening allowed!). We'll teach you how to make the dough by hand, successfully roll it out, show you what par-baking a crust is, and how to crimp the edges to make your pies look beautiful. You'll make a double crust fruit pie and a single crust baked custard pie. Pie flavors for this class vary by season (Apr-Sept: blueberry and lemon chess/ Oct-Mar: apple and pecan). Roll up your sleeves and join in the fun so you can tell all your friends you learned how to make a pie crust.

We’ll lead you in making Zingerman's Delicatessen's recipe for really great chicken pot pie from scratch, including mixing and rolling the flaky pie crust, cooking the velouté sauce, assembling the aromatic filling and shaping the pies. Join in on the hands-on fun and learn to make a classic comfort food.

You'll leave BAKE! with the recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, 6 individual pot pies you made in class to take home and freeze or bake for dinner and great coupons.

Experience three classics from Detroit institutions that have been around since the 1920s and 1940s. Together we'll bake Detroit style deep dish pizza with caramelized cheese edges baked in a blue steel pan, spiced almond cookies in the traditional windmill shape and a long john coffeecake with a butter, brown sugar, and walnut struesel. Get a little piece of history and a big bite of flavor, along with plenty of hands-on practice and tips for mastering these new recipes.
