In this JUST FOR KIDS tasting, we’re going to expand your palette beyond the ordinary turkey and ham that you might find on the sandwich in your lunchbox. We’ll learn about the variety of meats made around the world - from Italian prosciutto from Italy to Hungarian salami - and what makes the ones we bring here to the Deli different from what you might find at the grocery store. Every baker should know how to make a pie crust. You never stood on a chair to help Grandma bake a pie? You don’t get many second chances in life but here’s your opportunity to learn how she did it.

In this class we’ll deliver the techniques of how to make a pie crust the Zingerman's way- creating a flaky crust with butter, and another crust using lard and butter (no shortening allowed!). We'll teach you how to make the dough by hand, successfully roll it out, show you what par-baking a crust is, and how to crimp the edges to make your pies look beautiful. You'll make a double crust fruit pie and a single crust baked custard pie. Pie flavors for this class vary by season (Apr-Sept: blueberry and lemon chess/ Oct-Mar: apple and pecan). Roll up your sleeves and join in the fun so you can tell all your friends you learned how to make a pie crust.

You'll leave BAKE! with our recipes, the knowledge to make pie crust at home, two 10" pies, one butter pie crust to bake later and great coupons.

Cornman Farms invites you to a strolling garden party under the stars celebrating the best of our summer bounty! This season we are changing up the format from our classic seated dinners and creating an outdoor strolling experience so guests can enjoy the fresh air as they taste the flavors of the farm. The evening will feature three incredible food and beverage experiences highlighting our summer menu as well as signature farm dishes. The event will be designed in collaboration with Detroit Design Co. to create an elegant and laid back garden party atmosphere.

The Pergola: Under the pergola lights, guests will enjoy a bountiful selection of farm fresh vegetable crudité, charcuterie and a selection of Zingerman’s Creamery cheeses and Bakehouse breads.

Chef’s Garden: The chef’s garden will feature wood-fired pizzas with farm-made heirloom tomato sauce topped with Zingerman’s Creamery cheese and delicious vegetables pulled from the garden.

The Smokehouse: Summer is not complete without indulging in a little Americana barbecue, featuring smoked meats cooked on the outdoor grill and savory sides, guests will delight in a timeless summer tradition.

The Dessert: Balance all that savory with a medley of sweets at the dessert station, including a rhubarb crumble custard, butterscotch pudding and Cornman Farms’ signature s’mores.

Each station will have light soups and sides, as well as farm fresh cocktails crafted in collaboration with Norden Aquavit!

Join our cheese and gelato makers on an hour-long adventure to learn how we transform local milk into delicious cheese and gelato. On this tour, you will get to observe mozzarella stretching as well as taste freshly-made gelato. Taste some of our collection of cow’s milk and goat’s milk cheeses while hearing directly from the makers how the cheese is made. After the tour, make time for tasting in the Cream Top Shop or grab a couple of grilled sandwiches to enjoy for lunch.
