The baked goods of the United Kingdom are so different from what most Americans eat every day. In this class we’ll delve into the techniques behind some of our favorites. You'll make fresh English muffins (which are an ocean apart from what you can get at the supermarket), oatcakes and shortbread. It’ll be no surprise if, after taking this class, you start calling your friends to high tea every day!

At Zingerman’s Bakehouse we bake bagels as they were a long time ago - crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with big flavor, and a hole you can stick your finger through. Let us teach you to make a great bagel in your own home. You'll mix your dough from scratch, knead it by hand, shape it into rings, then boil and bake your bagels to get just the right texture. You'll choose your seeds too. We'll also show you traditional bialys, a crispy chewy roll with a center of slow roasted onions and poppy seeds. In class we'll snack on some bagels along with fresh cream cheese from our neighbor Zingerman's Creamery. This class will give you a great go-to recipe. Who wouldn't be impressed waking up to fresh baked bagels? After all, better bagels could make for better weekends!

There are so many wonderful flat breads from around the world. We’ll be griddling corn tortillas, making a laminated Moroccan flat bread called m’smen, using our wood fired oven for the whole wheat pita, and doing a demo of Indian naan. In this class you'll be busy mixing, kneading shaping and rolling your doughs. We'll finish them in the oven, on a griddle and inside our wood-fired oven! Open up your mind and your recipe box to the world of flat breads!

One of our most popular classes! Your family and house guests won't soon forget waking up to the aroma of butter, cinnamon, and muscovado brown sugar permeating the house from the fresh baked sweet rolls. Join us and find out how it's done. Learn the basic techniques of creating a sweet dough including mixing, kneading and rolling, hand-shaping your rolls, and properly proofing them. We'll also demonstrate how to make pecan sticky buns, a staff favorite. Wait until you taste these warm from the oven in class!

Do you love custards and puddings? Love buttery pie crusts? Eat whipped cream by the spoonful? Yes! Yes! and Yes! Then this class is for you.

Join us to make two of our Bakehouse best: chocolate cream pie and coconut cream pie. We’ll also demonstrate our popular key lime pie. Since it’s baked it’s not really a “cream” pie but it’s definitely creamy and delicious.

In this class, you'll learn how to make a
buttery and flaky pie crust from scratch (no shortening allowed!), how
to roll and bake the crust, and how to make the chocolate cream pie filling and coconut cream pie filling from scratch. For the key lime pie demonstration, we'll show you how to make a buttery graham cracker crust, and the rich, tart filling. We'll also demonstrate fresh whipped cream to top the pies.

Brownies are easy even without a box mix, but you really can taste the difference when you make them with great ingredients. We’ll make four different varieties including our very own magic brownie (called one of the top 20 recipes of all time by Midwest Living Magazine), a fudgy brownie, buenos aires brownies with dulce de leche caramel and pecan blondies. After tasting all of these brownies you’ll leave feeling magical.
