Brace yourselves for what will be the boldest and tastiest Bacon Ball yet! The Roadhouse can’t wait to welcome Tony Fiasche, 'nduja artisan and co-owner of Tempesta Market in Chicago. Dubbed the “Sausage Kings of Chicago” by Foodable, Tony and his father Agostino continue a tradition of five generations of Calabrian salumi-making. It’s an art that requires as much balance as a proper tarantella.

You'll make rich bacon cheddar scones and sweet-and-salty bacon pecan sandy cookies. Then we'll take you to hog heaven with a demonstration of our potato bacon strudel. Try and contain yourself.

Sail ashore and conquer the mysterious and rich world of danish dough. You will learn the techniques for laminating rich dough with butter,make your own dough in class, and create hand-shaped danish (almond-filled bear claws, pinwheels, and pockets filled with cream cheese or fruit), each surrounded by the rich tender flaky dough that makes a good danish. Oh so delicious!

You'll leave BAKE! with our recipes, the knowledge to recreate themat home, 18 danish you made in class, dough to bake at home, and great coupons.

**You may want to bring a cooler to put your take-home dough inif you are traveling more than an hour to attend class.

Who doesn't love cupcakes?! Join the cupcake party. We'll do a little baking and a lot of decorating, so that you can create your own tasty and cute-as-a-button cupcakes. First, you'll bake our tasty vanilla buttermilk cupcakes. Next, we'll demonstrate how we make our fluffy swiss buttercream. Then, we'll show you different ways to use vanilla and chocolate buttercream and fondant (ours is delicious—we promise!) to decorate your freshly baked cupcakes.You'll have plenty of time to let the creativity flow onto your cupcakes.You'll be eager to show off your cupcake art when you're done and then gobble it up.

Have you always wondered how to make naturally leavened bread at home? What is a sourdough starter anyway? In this class, we will demystify naturally leavened bread for you, teach you how to make and maintain your own sourdough starter, mix and treat the dough and finally bake a loaf of crusty, flavorful bread at home. You will make three of Zingerman's Bakehouse's signature breads: Cranberry Pecan, Farm, and Parmesan Pepper, as well as watch a demonstration of True North wheat bread. Your class includes a great Zingerman's Bakehouse lunch, too. This is anadvanced class for the dedicated baker.

You'll leave BAKE! with Zingerman's naturally leavened bread and sourdough starter recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, 6 loaves of bread, sourdough starter to make more bread at home, and great coupons. Not to mention a full tummy from lunch and bread snacking in class.

Come on down to the market – just a block down from the Deli! – to celebrate great pork with a three-hour street fair with an array of vendors selling, sampling, and showcasing all things bacon—a great way to have lunch, sample new bacon fares, or just have some fun with bacon-based games for kids of all ages. In 2017, we had over 2,500 attendees! Admission is free, but a donation to Washtenaw 4-H is suggested.

Remember when you were little and the gym teacher pulled out a compact plastic bundle and magically unfurled it into a huge parachute that the whole class could fit under? Well, you’ll have that experience all over again when we take a grapefruit-sized piece of strudel dough and stretch it out to cover a 24 sq. ft. table. Then we’ll make sweet and savory fillings to finish it off. This is just about the most fun you can have making food.
